We can praise God for what we will only understand after.

It seems counter-intuitive. How can we praise what we don’t know or understand? How can we praise when life is hard and we don’t feel like it?

Praise isn’t as much about our circumstances as it is about God’s provision and character. We often focus on the wrong things, which distorts our thankfulness and response. Instead of focusing on our situation and our perspective of it, when we focus on God, when we know him well, we trust him. We trust him enough to praise what we will only understand after.

It’s okay that you don’t understand. You don’t have to completely understand in order to praise God. You don’t have to like your circumstances in order to praise God. You simply have to be willing to praise God.
