How do we help others, and why?

We often want the easy, quick answer. We recommend a book or a quote or relay our own story. How often are we willing to listen over time, connect repeatedly, and invest through the messes of life? How willing are we to let another person move through their meandering process instead of pushing them through a few pre-determined steps?

There’s something to be said for seeking and trusting expert opinions, but there’s something even more to be said for the personal touch of doing life with others.
