The sleet came down throughout the day, but some rain seemed to cancel out some of its effects. The temperatures warmed a bit after dark, and nothing seemed too slippery as I arrived home late. I walked into my backyard and found a winter wonderland. Ice still coated the trees, and the lights bounced around the neighborhood and made the skyline glisten.

I stood and watched and listened to quiet creaks and cracks as the gentle wind blew. It was breathtaking.

I’ve seen the devastation of ice, rain, and wind. But sometimes it combines to create awesome beauty to be savored.
