Cast Me Not

Cast Me Not

I often think of casting as a flinging away from, like when we cast a fishing line. When I think of casting our cares on God (1 Peter 5:7), we often reel them back to us. We repeat that process of casting cares away then reeling them back. Our plan is to get rid of our cares and give them to God, but we stay attached to them.

However, casting in Psalm 51:11 is a reminder of God’s constant holding onto us. We might be on the line, and he gives us enough freedom to swim to and fro, but he holds the pole and reel and provides just the right tension.

God’s connection to us is trustworthy, because he is trustworthy. I thought you might need the reminder today.
