Circling the Truth

Circling the Truth

I was struggling a bit. I tried to focus as I worked through a Bible study. I knew I needed to focus on the truth of God’s Word in order to soothe my soul (or stir me into action or challenge me to prune or whatever was best in the situation). I was studying Jesus and his miracles. I tried to grasp the words swirling in front of me. I was glad it was familiar material to me, because I would have been lost otherwise.

My eyes scanned and darted across the pages, often jumping up a few lines to reread and remember the context. As I shifted from the bottom of one page to the top of the next, the phrase stood out: Jesus knew.

I circled it. And circled it again, and my penciled circles widened and repeated. I needed the reminder.

Jesus knew.

He knows.

He understands.

He cares.

He is.

I heard myself sigh as I stared at those words. And I regained some focus. I realize some people reading this will think, “Are you sure Jesus knew?” “Are you comforted someone knows?” “Are you sure Jesus is who he said he was?” “Are you sure Jesus even existed?”

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.

Sometimes we need to work to focus, but when the focus connects with truth, even for a moment, everything aligns. Everything isn’t made right. Everything isn’t easily understand. But everything has context. And there is peace.

  1. I can so relate to this! The past few weeks have been very busy, both at work and in my personal life. I keep reminding myself through this that Jesus knows, God is in control, and we are His instruments. Focusing has been difficult.
Praying for you this am. Thank you for your prayers!

  2. So glad I am not the only one who struggles to concentrate sometimes! Work continues to be a challenge. I have to remind myself frequently throughout the day that Jesus knows. God is in control. And we are just his instruments.
