We admire mic drop moments. It’s a moment in which something is powerful. It is well said and well timed. It’s impressive.
But perhaps those are the very moments in which we should not drop the mic. Of course, I’m speaking figuratively, but if we find ourselves in the influential posture, and what we’re saying seems to resonate, as long as we are humble through the experience, we should engage with others. We can invite conversation. We can share the microphone, not the make unnecessary chatter but to build relationships, to understand each other, and to share life.
The mic drop moments should be less about me and more about we. It’s less about one person saying something impressive and more about influencing and encouraging one other with truth, accountability, and authenticity.
Let’s not drop the mic; let’s share it.

I strongly believe that getting to the top is success, staying at the top is progress, but getting others to the top is greatness.
We should all strive to not just become powerful leaders but impactful leaders who will bless others with our position and possession.
I’m not sure we should strive to become powerful leaders. To me, the striving is to seek and honor God. It is up to him in what position I am in through each season. I trust him to position me so that I can influence people as he purposes. We can influence in his will in the humblest of situations and relationships, and much of that goes unnoticed and unseen. With that said, I don’t think we should shy away from what we might consider more visible positions. As long as we are constantly pursuing humility and holiness, we can trust God to provide wherever we are.
You are right, Susan. My definition of power is not just about position but the passion to create change and touch lives.
“But ye shall receive POWER, when the Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea and Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:8
“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and POWER, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.” Act 10:28
I also believe that everyone who has the passion to create change is a leader. Leadership is not about tags, titles, possessions and positions.
