What Does Surviving Sound Like?

This is the sound of surviving. It is a song that has expressed what I couldn’t say at times during the past year. It has challenged and encouraged me. I have listened to it…I’m not sure how many times.

It claims truth.

I am not only surviving. I am finding wholeness among rubble.

Reckless Love

A couple weeks ago, I listened to my sweet friend lead worship, and the melody and words of a song I’d never heard soaked into me. The phrase “the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God” shook me. How often I take that same love for granted. I’ve experienced it intensely, yet there are times I momentarily set aside the truth of God’s love for me. And for others. I am glad God is just and merciful and forgiving and corrective. I don’t know how, but he encompasses all of those things. He is all of those things. They are all a part of his love. He doesn’t stop pursuing us no matter how close or far away from him we are.

Before I spoke a word, You were singing over me
You have been so, so good to me
Before I took a breath, You breathed Your life in me
You have been so, so kind to me

O, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
O, it chases me down, fights ’til I’m found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn’t earn it, and I don’t deserve it, still, You give Yourself away
O, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God, yeah

When I was Your foe, still Your love fought for me
You have been so, so good to me
When I felt no worth, You paid it all for me
You have been so, so kind to me

Music Monday: You Can Trust That He Knows

No matter what you’re going through, celebrating, struggling with, Jesus knows. In our weakness, He is strong, In our uncertainty, He is the Rock. He comforts our pain. He gives peace among chaos. He doesn’t just fix; He journeys with us. His compassion, mercy, and grace reaches out to us and ministers to us in ways we cannot even fathom.

Because He knows.

Music Monday: There Is Power (And It’s Yours)

We don’t always accept Jesus’ power, especially when things don’t go the way we want, when we feel out of control. We don’t want to accept His power, because it doesn’t make sense to us, and it’s something we can’t control. But it is something we have when we yield to Him. We let it work in and through us. And it is powerful.
