Each Monday on the Pure Purpose blog, I feature This Week’s 7, a simple list about an everyday topic, giving you ideas and encouragement. Last week was Sunny Days, so of course, this week is Rainy Days!
- Find a place to sit where you can be outside or close to outside without getting wet and listen to the raindrops. Find the patterns and rhythms, and let your imagination soar.
- Read something you don’t “have to” read.
- Visit a museum. Savor meandoring among the exhibits. Learn something new or rediscover areas you haven’t explored for awhile.
- Bake a pie, cake, or cookies. Enjoy the warm, delicious smells…and then deliver the fresh goodies to a neighbor.
- Re-organize a filing cabinet, closet or bookcase – something that’s been neglected for awhile. If you find gently used items you haven’t used recently and probably don’t need, box them up and donate them to a community charity.
- Take time out for a bit of pampering: Soak in a long bubble bath. Color your hair. Paint your nails.
- Set aside an hour to catch up with a friend – or several – you haven’t connected with for awhile. Write personal notes, create an e-scrapbook page of memories, or call and chat on the phone.
How do you enjoy rainy days?
You send rain to the plowed fields; you fill the rows with water. You soften the ground with rain, and then you bless it with crops. Psalm 65:10
I drafted This Week’s 7 before all the storms hit over the weekend, so I’m making an addition: help with cleanup, sit and listen to someone’s story, cook and deliver a warm meal, or serve in a shelter.
