The Wisdom Pursuit

eat-before-after-runMy son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, listening closely to wisdom and directing your heart to understanding; furthermore, if you call out to insight and lift your voice to understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it like hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and discover the knowledge of God. (Proverbs 2:1-5)

Accept. Store. Listen. Direct. Call out. Seek. Search.

Wisdom is a pursuit. It’s active. We understand as a result of our pursuit.

We often want wisdom but we want it to simply be given to us. Or we think we can attain it by figuring it our, using our common sense and preferences. God certainly gave us rational minds to help guide us, but He also gives us the Holy Spirit for discernment. He doesn’t intend for us to gullibly believe what is the simplest, most common, or even the most complex.

The pursuit isn’t so much about the wisdom itself as God Himself.
