Nothing But The Truth

Nothing But The Truth

photo-1525696015091-0c325054e92fI often use the phrase “seek truth.” There’s an implied word in the middle of that phrase: “seek (God’s) truth.” Truth belongs to God, and when we seek it, we seek him. We invite him and his truth to check us and guide us.

But there’s more to it than that. We need to take our truth to him. The whole truth. All of it. We need honesty, transparency, and vulnerability. Even if you don’t believe in God or absolute truth, you will find honesty, transparency, and vulnerability untwist you, revealing the truth about you and your life in ways you cannot possibly reach without a revealing light.

Not a single one of us is going to get it right all the time. We’re not going to be able to figure out truth. Yes, we need to use our rational minds and some common sense, but we need an external check. We are not enough on our own. We hand it all over, allow it to be sifted by trustworthy sources, wrestle with what we don’t quite understand, and step forward with faith as we continue to work through much of it.

That is life.

As for me, I want my life to be the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

I’ve walked away from truth in my life at times, and it’s not a good place to be.

One choice at a time, I am walking in the light.

I’m not going to be perfect at it, but I can choose nothing but the truth with each step.
