Set your alarm to pray throughout the day. If you’re praying for a specific person, convert his or her birthday (or other important date) into a similar time (for example, a May 16th birthday becomes 5:16). Set your alarm, and when it goes off, pause to prayer for a full minute. Perhaps God has placed a worldwide need on your heart, something going on around the world at all times, such as poverty, trafficking, slavery, or war. Set your alarm for 2:47 (corresponding to 24 hours a day/7 days a week) and pray for a full minute when it goes off. Perhaps a specific Scripture verse stands out to you and you want to regularly claim and commit to it. If it’s Romans 12:1-2, you can convert it to 12:12 and set your alarm, speaking the verse when your alarm sounds.
What happens when your alarm interrupts your day? It will, and that’s okay! Your relationship with God is pervasive. It consumes your life, including the details of daily life. You need a constant reminder that God is in control, that you are depending on Him. As you invite God to interrupt your day and pause to pray in those moments, you will give moments of your day to Him in ways you would have previously ignored because of your busyness. If others are around you, feel free to invite them to join you. Or, briefly explain what you’re doing and spend a moment on your own.
Let God interrupt your day and our life.
