Lent is a preparation, a spiritually-disciplined journey, a purposeful reflection on Jesus Christ.
During this week’s lent readings, we’ll focus on lament. Remember:
- Read today’s verses multiple times, aloud when possible.
- Write something that stands out to you on a sticky note, and carry it with you throughout the day.
- Journal sometime throughout the day or write reflections in the comments section below each post.
- Refuse to treat this daily reading as something you “have to” do. Challenge yourself to lean into the verses, open your heart to them, and journey toward Jesus through them.
Sitting across from the temple treasury, He watched how the crowd dropped money into the treasury. Many rich people were putting in large sums. And a poor widow came and dropped in two tiny coins worth very little. Summoning His disciples, He said to them, “I assure you: This poor widow has put in more than all those giving to the temple treasury. For they all gave out of their surplus, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she possessed—all she had to live on.” (Mark 12:41-44)
