This Week’s 7 – Serve a Neighbor

This Week’s 7 – Serve a Neighbor

Each Monday on the Pure Purpose blog, I feature This Week’s 7, a simple list about an everyday topic, giving you ideas and encouragement. Today’s post is the second in a series on service.

  1. Share dinner with a neighbor (or group of neighbors). Double your dinner portions and deliver to a neighbor or invite neighbors to join you at your house and get to know them better.
  2. Watch for outdoor or do-it-yourself projects going on around you. Set aside your own work for the day and pick up your tools to help.
  3. Get to know your neighbors by caring about their kids. You can be a huge help to a single mom (or a woman whose husband travels a lot or is in the military) by playing with her kids while she’s cleaning the house or planting a garden.
  4. Next time you fill your car with gas, pick up a gift card to bless a neighbor who drives every day.
  5. What do you have that neighbors need or would appreciate? Fresh flowers, fresh vegetables, tools? Look around and see what you can share.
  6. Commit to doing something weekly for an elderly neighbor. Carry trash to the curb, pick up basic groceries, or sit on the front porch and chat.
  7. If you have neighbors who host family gatherings, offer parking space, extra bedrooms, or tables and chairs to help ease the chaos that can come with hosting family.

Love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:39

  1. Hi Susan,
    I love this list……

I have done these things for neighbors and I know how appreciative they were.

God gives us a loving heart for those around us. Give unto others….

Jesus gave HIS ALL for US, so, why shouldnt we as HIS DAUGHTERS give back when we can, to bless others….

I so enjoy your posts…..Blessings to you for a wonderful and GOD FILLED WEEK…

    Luv
    Cindy
