Everyday God: Filling the Gas Tank

Everyday God: Filling the Gas Tank

everydayBecause of the Games We Play with God, we’re digging into a new series this month to explore ways we can know God in the everyday of our lives. Today’s daily task? Filling the Gas Tank!

Most the comments I hear about filling up gas tanks are negative, focusing most often on the costs. If you’re able to fill up your vehicle with a tank of gas (or any amount of gas at all), you are indeed blessed! Be thankful you have a vehicle to drive! Instead of being grumpy about the gas prices, consider another focus.

The time it takes to fill up your gas tank is a great opportunity to thank God for filling you up and determining to trust him for continuing to fill you up as you yield to him. You were never intended to run on empty. You need fuel, and while you might try to push through on the remnants of fumes, there is no need when you know God is ready, willing and able to fill you. He gives you the fuel you need for every day, and he gives you his endless supply. The Holy Spirit is not limited. He is, however, costly. He requires you to give up yourself and let him provide and guide. It’s a worthwhile exchange!

Always be joyful. Pray continually, and give thanks whatever happens. That is what God wants for you in Christ Jesus.Do not hold back the work of the Holy Spirit. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-19)
