Prayer Tip: Technology Accountability

prayingpsalmsimagePrayer is both personal and corporate. It is based in a relationship—your relationship with God. It involves many other relationships as you pray for others as well as for your relationships with others. God creates accountability within our prayer lives. Instead of waiting until we bump into each other in prayer or through prayer needs, we can invite accountability by sharing prayer with others.

It’s easy to reach out to others in today’s technology-savvy world. A quick text or Facebook message reaches others. Today, and every day this week, reach out to others.

  • Perhaps God will call someone to mind, and you will pray for her. Call her and pray with her over the phone.
  • Or perhaps you’re struggling with something but pray for God’s presence and clarification. Text a friend and give her the basics of your prayer, inviting her to pray along with you.
  • Maybe a Scripture stands out to you and becomes a regular part of your prayers this week. Post it on Facebook, sharing God’s truth and your prayer with others.

Do life with others. Invite accountability into your life…not just others’ accountability to you and your willingness to support them but your accountability to them. Relationships aren’t one-way—relationships with others or, more important, your relationship with God.
