The day I moved included abundant help. Everyone pitched in and the process moved quickly. People worked together and seemed to enjoy themselves – as much as moving can be enjoyed.

I looked around several times and felt a sense of community. These people took time out of their holiday weekend to help me. They helped each other. They stayed until everything they could do was done.

I already had a sense of belonging with these people. They were part of the process of making a house my home in more ways than one. My home feels as if it was created by and for community. I want people to feel welcome and comfortable, and I look forward to the memories I’ll make with friends – old and new – for years to come.

Open your home and your heart. Do life well with others. Invite them in. Life with others is challenging, but it’s worthwhile to authentically share and move forward with others.
