Gratitude exclaims…”How good of God to give me this.” Adoration says, “What must be the quality of that Being whose far-off and momentary coruscations are like this!” One’s mind runs back up the sunbeam to the sun. (C.S. Lewis)
Oh, how we savor what God gives us without acknowledging it is him who creates and provides. We appreciate and enjoy the effects of the sun but focus on just that…the effects. We enjoy the feel of a warm day or the sparkles upon the sea or sand or the dancing shadow filtering through gently-blowing leaves. We appreciate plants growing, whether for beauty or for provision. We welcome the sunrise after a long, exhausting night.
We savor the effects the sun gives us more than the sun itself.
We do the same with God.
Are you earnestly looking for the source of your life and the beauty and provision in it and tracing it back to the creator and provider? Or are you content to stay disconnected and focused on a small portion of what the whole picture and relationship is?
As you see and feel light today, consider the source. As you take a step or breath, notice a color, speak a word, listen to a friend, pay a bill, or read a book, be grateful and thank God.
