My Life with God

Massaahhhhhge

The last day of a recent vacation, I scheduled a massage. I don’t get massages often, but it was certainly the right choice.

After a week of relaxing, I got even more tension rubbed out. It was probably the best massage I’ve ever had.

Why am I sharing? Because life is not easy for many right now. There is a lot going on. There is a lot of tension. And even if we think we’re avoiding as much as possible, we’re carrying some of it. You might not be able to get a massage, and in the long run, that’s not going to fix everything anyway. However, you need to notice the knots. You need to be aware of the tension. You need to know what contributes to the tension and what helps relieve it—healthily. For me, it’s grounding myself in God’s presence and Word. It’s doing the hard work to grow spiritually. But even the growth process itself creates tension.

We can’t limit everything stressful in our lives. But we can get to the core of what aligns our lives. We’re not going to live a life of relaxation, tension-free, but we can deal with those tensions with regular check-ins that let us know what needs to be weeded and what needs to be cultivated.

How are you doing today?

What can you do that will help you answer, “Better”?
