I don’t get it.
I hear people slamming a politician or other leader with whom they disagree. But instead of respectfully engaging with or stating our differences, we rant about completely unrelated factors, such as, someone’s weight or mannerisms.
Why?
Are we too lazy to have mature conversations that search for fact? Are we not willing to open our minds to other experiences and perspectives? Are we not willing to be respectful to other people just because we disagree with policy or personality?
We can disagree with someone without slamming them for things that have nothing to do with what we disagree about. The way in which we disagree with and discuss others reveals a lot more about ourselves than the people we’re pointing toward. It might be worth some reflection today. Otherwise, pointing at others might accuse yourself even more.
