Piles of Poop

Piles of Poop

I don’t know why this sight made me chuckle. It might be the placement of the sign with the large, fancy house behind it.

I was at a greenhouse/landscaping business in a city. But people in the city need poop for their landscaping as much as people in the country or small communities.

I grew up on a hog and cattle farm. I dealt with plenty of poop—much more poop than could be composted. Not to mention we didn’t have time to compost every scoop of poop, but there was always a scoop of poop available when needed.

I quickly snapped this picture and didn’t give it much more thought until going through my photos recently. Now a couple things stand out.

  • The poop is bagged. Of course, it would be. How else would people take it home? We take something we would rather get rid of because of its stench and process it and tidy it up to be used.
  • The poop is not only piled close to a fancy house, but it could be and possibly is used right up to the edge of the house if needed for landscaping.

Why even post about the poop?

  • As much as we don’t like a lot of things about poop, we need to know the uses. There’s a lot in our lives that stinks, but the stench doesn’t eliminate the worth and purpose it might have in our lives.
  • None of us are beyond stinky messes in our lives. Until we’re willing to acknowledge the stench and how we can repurpose it, we’ll miss out and possibly stink up our own lives and others’.

We’re going to step in it and smell the stench whether we acknowledge it or not. Let’s be smart enough to acknowledge and find purpose with the messes around us.
