Pray without ceasing.
The directive or encouragement is perplexing, because how could we never cease praying? We need to live life, too. Prayer is a part of a faith-filled life but isn’t the only discipline we need.
Prayer isn’t a stuck position. It’s not limited to one position, one location, one template or mantra. It’s a posture, a conversation, a relationship. It’s not about getting what you want. It’s about knowing who God is, who he says you are, and what he says you can do today as you heal from your yesterdays and prepare you for tomorrows.
Nothing you face today is a surprise to God. That doesn’t mean he’s happy with it all. We makes choices that make messes. Prayer is a preparation and response—acknowledging where we are and sitting it in just long enough to get direction for a step that might not make sense but doesn’t have to. We don’t get paralyzed; we get nudged. We move. We listen. We learn. We lean.
Prayer isn’t about comfort and confirmation. It’s a relentless pursuit. Prayer can flow through you without hesitation and without stagnancy. Engage with God today and let him change you from the inside out—constantly. Never be content to arrive at a destination. Instead, savor the ebb and flow of the journey.
