This Week’s 7 – Graduation Gifts That Last

Each Monday on the Pure Purpose blog, I feature This Week’s 7, a simple list about an everyday topic, giving you ideas and encouragement. This week includes graduation gifts that keep giving beyond the graduation date.

  1. Pizza of the month. Give a pizza gift card and a note to let the graduate know he can expect to receive a gift card each month through his freshman year. Try to get gift certificates from local pizzerias for the personal touch.
  2. Quarterly quarters. Laundry time! If the machines don’t accept quarters, send dollars, two times each semester, dividing the year into quarters.
  3. SendOut Cards. An easy way to keep in touch and send food, gift certificates and more. Visit https://www.sendoutcards.com/
  4. Lend an Ear. Be available to listen through transitions and struggles. Make notes in your calendar to connect on a regular basis just to let someone know you’re available when she needs you.
  5. Daily Words. Get a page-a-day calendar and write a few notes on random pages to personalize the gift. Many themes and styles are available, so you can choose a calendar that fits your graduate.
  6. Collegiate or Armed Forces gear. Give a tshirt or other item personalized with the graduate’s chosen college or military branch.
  7. Coffee Dates. Perhaps you won’t be around all the time to sit and chat over coffee, but you can reload a Starbucks card each month and encourage the graduate to stay connected with friends by setting coffee dates, sharing her life with those around her.

What are your favorite graduation gifts to give? What was the favorite gift you received?

  1. Just found you through Internet Cafe and enjoy reading your blogs, present and past! I also ordered both of your books, Pure Passion and Pure Emotion. I teach a bible study to a small group of “single again” women. I look forward to sharing these books with them. Thanks for your insight. Look forward to more blogs! Ellen
