“There will be dozens of people who take your breath away but the one[s] who remind[s] you to breathe is[are] the one[s] you should keep.”
I like the plural version better, because there are often many people in life who remind us to breathe.
We can get so distracted by the obvious beauty of life and miss out on the beauty that is more subtle, the people who pour into us in everyday essential ways, the people who care for us quietly and do things that might go virtually unnoticed, the people who show up even in the messes, the people who offer to stay with us for our benefit even if it will be difficult or inconvenient for them.
It’s in generous humility that we often find the beauty of life.
