My Life with God

Whatever Happens

It’s become a favorite verse of mine.

It’s challenging.

Whatever happens…worthy of the gospel.

But it’s possible. I’m not perfect. You’re not perfect. We’re not going to get it right all the time. That’s not what this verse is about. Conducting ourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ isn’t jumping through hoops of specific behaviors. It’s not a list of do’s and don’ts. Yes, our behavior is impacted, but it’s because it flows from our character.

Conducting ourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ comes from our character, our focus, and our attitudes. Not from perfect choices but with a humility that invites us to learn and grow through the stuff we do wrong—or even without the best intentions and firm foundation.

I’m working on this today, primarily by focusing on it today. Whatever happens.
