I sat at a table with my granddaughter and my son-in-law. It was a casual lunch in the middle of a work day for me and a day off for him. We talked about a variety of things, and I savored the time together. It was simple—just a lunch, just an hour—but it was much more.
Before we left, I looked around at the basic surroundings and appreciated the blessing of that simple lunch. I got to spend time with my daughter’s family. I got to talk about things we have in common. I got to deepen my relationship.
My life is richer because of the people around me, and I am grateful for the simple moments that let the roots grow a little bit deeper.
Who is in your life today? It might be family, friends, coworkers, or strangers. Even in the simplest of situations, challenge yourself to go a little deeper. Sit and talk. Share life. Be grateful.
