I reached out for help with my move. I could do some of it, but there was some heavy lifting and transporting that required more people, strength, and equipment. So, I began to reach out for help. People’s responses were generous and kind. The community to which I belong provides abundantly. I don’t know why people continue to surprise me, but I am often overwhelmed with people who say, “Of course, I’ll help.” One person even reached out without being asked. He heard I was moving and asked where he needed to be on what day.
When I ask for help, I try to be prepared. I try to show my appreciation. I try to do my part to acknowledge people’s sacrifice and make things as simple as possible. I try to keep the time commitment to a minimum and to be organized enough to be efficient.
I try to respond to people’s generosity with my own generosity. We all bring different skills to the table, but we can always be generous.
I am thankful for the people in my life. I have some good ones.
So do you. Invest in them well. Acknowledge and appreciate them.
